Mobutu Sese Seko
Mobutu Sese Seko was born in 1930 and died 1997. He was born and lived in Lisala. In 1960 Mobutu took control. In 1971 when he was Africanizing name he changed the republic name to Zaire. He was thrown out of power after a seven month rebellion. Mobutu rose through the ranks of the army from a simple informer to become the Chief of staff in his nations Armed Forces. "Today we are a failed state." During his time as leader of the DRC he was strongly supported by the USA.
